What Does Royalty Free Mean?
Royalty-free does not mean the images are free! The Royalty Free license grants you non-exclusive and non-transferable use of the image you purchase, in as many projects as you like, for a one-time flat fee which is based on file size for a single image or as a collection of images written to CD-ROM. Traditional Licensed images, "Royalty Based", on the other hand, have a useage fee applied that is based on a one-time use and the amount payable (Royalty) is determined by what that one time use is i.e.: advertising, editorial, brochure etc. and the circulation of that media. Once you purchase an image that is Royalty Free it is ready for use in advertising, brochures, packaging, web sites, multimedia projects, and more for as long as you wish. There are very few restrictions placed on how you can use these images and those restrictions can be read in the Licensing Agreement.

The Royalty Free license also allows you to incorporate an image into a composite or illustration and create your own unique works. However; the user or purchaser of a photographic image from Alldrit Studios, Inc. may not reproduce an image in any traditional or electronic photographic medium for fine art purposes, such as display in either a public or private art gallery, photography gallery, photographic collection or electronic bulletin board. You may use an image in postcards, calendars, greeting cards and posters when these items are intended for promotional use only and not for resale.

The purchaser/end user may not claim ownership of an image or its derivative purchased from Alldrit Studios, Inc. You will be requested to read and agree to our Licensing Agreement before making any purchases.

There is some confusion about the term "Rights Protected". Rights protected images literary means the purchaser of a Royal Based image will have their useage rights protected to some degree from other customers using the same image at the same time in their projects. Usually this "exclusive" use involves a premium payment for the use of that image. However, the term Rights Protected is used loosely for all Royalty Based images even though the purchaser doesn't actually have exclusive use.
